Do you know what all those brands have in common?

According to the website Social Commerce Today they all do some kind of sales transaction on Facebook.

This is what is called Social Commerce. A name that evokes the fusion of two big digital trends: “social media” and “e-commerce”. It basically means the act of selling with social media – the use of social technologies in the context of retail.

Before I use to think Facebook and social media in general was just a communication channel between brands and their consumer. Now I know that this was just its initial function. As the above definition denotes, the concept of social commerce has been expanded beyond e-commerce to include the use of social technologies in the context of retail – whether online or in-store.

Examples of social commerce include user ratings and reviews, user recommendations and referrals, social shopping (sharing the act of online shopping together), user forums and communities, social media optimization (for e-commerce), and social applications and social ads linked to e-commerce

The F-Commerce - name given to retail system based exclusively on Facebook - is one of the most important Social Commerce systems. But of course! On facebook users are already inclined to get involved with a brand and if the brand starts to give buying option for them it will save customer time and create a stronger relationship. Clever!
